Welcome to Temple Or Rishon (audio)

We are a religious community of Reform Jews serving the Eastern Sacramento metropolitan area. Our congregation welcomes families and singles, interfaith couples and seniors. Our religious school is the largest in the metropolitan area. Our adult education, including our noted Saturday Torah study invites all to learn, share, and experience. Come join us for Shabbat service on Friday night or the more intimate Saturday Shabbat service. We invite all to join our Jewish community.

Temple Or Rishon Mission

Temple Or Rishon is a warm and diverse Reform Jewish community committed to brining the light of Judaism into our lives. Come learn, pray, emjoy and grow with us.

Our Community

From our start with 5 families in 1983 we’ve grown to a robust Reform Jewish community of over 260 families. Along the way, we built our own Synagogue and Hebrew School. We saw marriages, births, B’nai Mitzvot, confirmations, religious celebrations and observances. In 2008, we celebrate our Silver Anniversary. Click here to learn more about our history and growth as a community. (put some pictures here)

Join us for Shabbat, Torah study, our extensive classes, our Chavurot, or celebrations, the High Holy Days, or just to meet our family. We have family, tot Shabbat, and diner/Shabbat services every month. Come for service, to learn, or just to meet our warm and friendly community.

25th Anniversary Gala Ball

Next year we will celebrate our 25th anniversary. To commemorate this event, we will be holding our second annual Gala Ball at the Sacramento Hilton. Save the date: March 8th, 2008. This celebration and fund raiser is your chance to step out, enjoy an evening of dinner and dancing and both a live and silent auction. Get your fancy duds dusted off!

In conjunction with this celebration, we will be publishing “a History of Temple Or Rishon”. Information about our history is being gathered for inclusion in this book. To review the information we’ve gathered to date, click here. If you have information to add, corrections, etc., send an email to Ted Blumenstein at tedbee@surewest.net.
